Black Country Star project

This is a funded project looking and creating an equitable health care service for people with a learning disability and or autism. This project is a pilot and funding by the Transforming Care Programme – Healthwatch Sandwell and three other partners, Autism West Midlands, Dudley Voice for Choice and Healthwatch Dudley.

The purpose of the projects is to gather insight on patients experiences and views of services - to help inform and influence change in health and social care delivery in Sandwell and as part of the wider Black Country health and care system.

The project will consist of finding out about the experiences of GP access from people with LD and or autism and their parents/carers, especially regarding the annual health checks. Information gathered will be put into a report and shared with the funder and stakeholders. Longer-term we will be developing a working group of peers who will review a selection of GP surgeries in Sandwell and make recommendation as to how the service can improve.

Healthwatch Leicester Sandwell is part of a network of ECS Healthwatch’s independent organisations set up to champion the views of patients and social care users in Sandwell with the goal of making services better and improving health and wellbeing. We want to hear about your views, needs, and experiences to help get the best possible health and care across these areas. To share your feedback on health and social care services in these areas, contact Healthwatch through their Feedback centre:  https://www.healthwatchsandwell.co.uk/services/
